Death of George Ledger "Uncle George from Camp Parsons".. George died
Tuesday 12/24/96. His service will be Monday the 30th 2:00 PM at St.
Catherine's in Seattle. 8610 8th Ave. NE 98115. Just off Roosevelt Way
N. Just North of George's Home.
George was born Feb. 5, 1910 in Germantown PA. Grew up in Seattle
Washington living on a houseboat on Lake Union. Attended Queen High
School. George served in the US Army in WW2 and earned the Purple Heart.
George retired from Seattle City Light where he was active in the union.
He was a just elected a officer in the Disabled Americans Veterans.
George's main interest was in The Boy Scouts of America. He attended two
National Scout Jamborees and two World Jamborees. He served as Cubmaster,
Scoutmaster, and the last 20 years as Assistant Scoutmaster for troop
151. George has also served on his District Committee in several
positions. George has earned the District Award of Merit, Good Turn
Award, Silver Beaver, and the George Meany Award. George attended Wood
Badge Training in 1961 and returned to serve as Wood Badge Quartermaster
in 1976 and served for six courses. George is proceeded in his death by
Francis his wife of 59 years and Son Bruce. Scout friends of all ages
will miss "Uncle George". Memorials to The Boy Scouts Of America, Chief
Seattle Council, or your favorite charity.
