Re: Permission Slips & Legal Stuff

In January, I posted a copy of our permission slip which includes items
such as trip description, cost of the trip, names of adult and youth crew
leaders, and who to contact for more information or in case of an
emergency, informed consent and release of liability,
and medical treatment consent. We researched this with an attorney who is
also an active Scouter and suggested language which would make the
document both informative for the parents, clearly describe risks which
may occur, and provide for emergency medical treatment consent in case
parents cannot be promptly contacted for such permission.
We do require that parents fill out a form for each trip because each one
is different and has different risk factors which need to be documented.
For those who are interested, I would be willing to forward the post
privately upon request.
Best Wishes,
