Hi everybody. I'm Scoutmaster of Troop 43 of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and
I'm also on the staff of Baraboo Circus Heritage. BCH is a very fun event
and I think your Scouts would enjoy it. I'd like to give some more
information about it so I've copied the Press Release that we're sending to
Midwest Councils.

BEGINNING OF PRESS RELEASE

Bring your attention to May 16, 17 & 18, 1997, under the Big Top, it's the
11th Annual Baraboo Circus Heritage!!! Youth from all over the Midwest will
converge at the Sauk County Fairgrounds in Baraboo, Wisconsin for this
annual celebration of circus fun and history. Baraboo Circus Heritage has
many activities, But the main attraction is admission to the "Greatest
Museum on Earth," the Circus World Museum.

Owned by the Historical Society of Wisconsin, the Circus World Museum has
the best collection of circus memorabilia ever assembled. Enjoy a myriad of
circus experiences, including circus performances under the big top tent,
train loading shows, elephant rides, and a tour of the world's largest
collection of antique circus wagons. The big top show features Happy the
Clown, and Mr. Bill the Clown, longtime Baraboo Circus Heritage favorites.

Besides visiting the Circus World Museum, the following activities have
taken place in past years. Additions and changes may occur. Skills
Competition: Any group of 6 to 8 youth can form a team in this patrol style
competition. The teams will be tested on circus and scout skills Circus
Heritage Trail: The trail will make a challenge and a game out of finding
many of Baraboo's historical circus places. Sideshow: There will be "hands
on" exhibits and demonstrations on a variety of subjects. Pinewood Derby:
The Great Midwestern 500 Pinewood Derby with categories in all ages
including adults. Miniature Circus Wagon Competition: Bring your own
miniature circus wagon to be judged for originality and craftsmanship.
Leader Dutch Oven Dessert Bake Off: Adult leaders bring your dutch oven and
the ingredients for your favorite dessert. Center Ring Stage Show: Saturday
night stage show at the fairgrounds grandstand will feature professional
entertainment, awards and surprises.

Jamboree style camping space will be provided for the first two thousand
campers on grass covered sites at the fairgrounds. The camping space is
available Friday and/or Saturday night at no extra charge. A Scout Museum,
Food Stand, and Trading Post will be set up for the youth to explore and
enjoy.

A brochure with complete information and registration form will be printed
and mailed in January. To be included on our mailing list, please contact
