A Scout is Reverent

Listening to the posts regarding a "multi-cultural" Christmas (which I've
now decided can't be done), I have winced several times when remembering
events & activities that have happened in my son's pack & troop that must
have offended/confused Scouts of different faiths and/or cultures.
The 12th point of the Scout Law is reverence, meaning respect. This
extends beyond our personal faith and religion to respect the faith &
religious practices of other individuals.
How do individuals from non-Christian faiths explain to their children
the Christmas parties & trees found in many public schools ? How do
Christian individuals explain to their children the crass commercialism
of the Christmas season?
