Our troop, 177, in southern New Mexico is looking for other troops, packs,
dens, or other youth groups (probably in more northern lattitudes of U.S.)
who might like to partner with us in a quick turn-around holiday fund
raiser. I know this is pretty late, but thought I would ask just in case.
The fund raiser involves the sale of mistletoe which grows well in our
climate and sells well in most more northern climates. Our harvest was
larger than anticipated this year and we have a lot more mistletoe than is
needed for the groups who have already partnered with us.
Here's how it works. If your group would like to sell pre-packaged (small
plastic baggies tied with red ribbon) mistletoe you set your own price,
decide how much you think you can sell, and contact us. We package and
ship (at our cost) the amount you request. We make arraingements for the
necessary USDA permit for shipping and receiving the mistletoe. You don't
have to take orders, wait for them to arrive and then go back to deliver...
you have the product in hand and just sell, and then pay us $ 1.00 for
each bag you have sold. No risk. All we ask is that you try to make a
reasonable estimate of the amount you can sell and keep track of your
sales to pay us. You don't have to pay for or send back any unsold bags.
The boys in our troop harvest, package, ship etc. Funds go to help get
them to Philmont next summer.
Our other partners tell us they don't have much trouble selling the
mistletoe for $2.00 to $ 3.00 per bag. One partner prefers to sell at
$ 1.50 and finds it sells faster and is more fun to sell.
I realize it is close to Christmas, but if you'd like to partner with us
this year and have a go at it, we will get your request out to you within
a day or two of hearing from you. If it doesn't work out and you don't
get sales, we understand, no problem, you only owe for what actually sells.
If you wish to partner with us, or have questions, please don't take up
space by answering on the list. Contact me directly by e-mail.
