Asst. District Commisioner

Stan Pope (StanDCmr@AOL.COM)
Sat, 7 Dec 1996 14:26:38 -0500

Jim,

Some suggestions:

1. Ask the DC (or DE) for the Job Description for Unit Commissioner,
ADC and DC. If they can't come up with anything quickly, suggest
that they check out the Commissioner Fieldbook for Unit Service,
BSA # LM33621, around page 11? (my copy is 1990 printing). As an
administrative commissioner, you would be responsible for unit
commissioners, possibly even the recruiting thereof, so you better
know what they do.

2. Ask your DC if that is the job he/she expects you to do. If not, what
differences?

3. Ask about training. (They ought to be able to tell you that, in
addition to Commissioner Basic Training, you can also expand your
knowledge through weekend College of Commissioner Service
[or College of Commissioner Science, see #34522 has been
discountinued... perhaps replaced by LM33615 - Continuing
Education for Commissioners] or University of Scouting programs
that are organized by various councils or the various week-long
conferences at Philmont Training Center for Commissioners and
Commissioner Staff.)

Good luck. Hope you can "stay involved."

Regards,
Stan Pope (Lilchpin Elangomat)
