Jim,

RUN! RUN! RUN for your LIFE!!! :-)
---- ---- --------------------

No, it's not that bad.

I've never served as an ADC, but have served as a DC.

I had 4 ADCs working with my district. They were each responsible for a
geographic area within the district, one for south county, north county,
and one for each major city in the central county.

Each ADC was responsible for servicing a group of units (10-15), of
course not directly, but through unit commissioners.

To use a "troop" analogy; if a unit commissioner was a "Scout", an ADC would
be a "Patrol Leader", with the DC serving as the "SPL".

Of course that analogy is very rough, but you get the picture. Districts
differ a great deal on how they utilize ADCs. Some ADCs might specialize
in training, others might head up a critical unit team that goes into
trouble spots with a team of other Commissioners, or others might
supervise/recruit/train a group of Commissioners in a geographic portion
of the district as I've described.

I would find out more details from the DE and DC that are recruiting
you. I have a feeling you've already decided to say yes. You are too
much of a gung ho Scouter to say no. I can tell. You've got that
Scouting Spirit deep down inside you.

You certainly don't sound like you need something more to keep you
involved in Scouting as the DE suggested. You sound extremely involved now.

Good luck to you.
