Here's another approach. Our Scoutmaster sends out a one pager to the boys
which he calls "Scoutmaster's Minute". It usually contains an object lesson
and a reminder about the next event the troop is involved in.
The Troop Committee puts out a monthly newsletter for boys and family which
is more extensive and contains articles about successful past events,
calandar, "heads up" items, and other Scouting material.
Our ADC puts out a district newsletter which contains lots of Scouter info,
forms for the upcoming programs, Roundtable reminders, other motivational
pieces, etc.
I find all these means of communications quite useful.
