Re: Who pays for adults?

(GSUSA side)

I've done it both ways. Back when my troop was Brownies, it wasn't so
expensive, so I plunked down my $9 or whatever. If the troop funds paid
for the girls, they paid for the *required* adults (I extend that to
include drivers above and beyond Safety-Wise requirements). Please note
that IN OUR COUNCIL and probably other GS Councils, we do not have, and are
not allowed to have individual girl accounts within the troop account. All
money belongs to the troop as a whole.

The troop is Cadettes now (and I'm in my last year as a Cadette leader), and
we've had the troop pay for the adults, even if it is not totally subsidizing
the girl cost. Why? Because if the girl is expected to pay, the accompanying
adult generally has to pay twice - once for themselves, and once for their
daughter (multiply that if more than 1 daughter in troop - once I had 3 girls
from the same family!). We are often taking off work (vacation time), driving
long distances (the tax deduction is only for registered GS adults; not all
parents are registered), loaning our camping equipment to the troop (unlike
BSA troops, GSUSA troops don't own tents/stoves/flies/major cooking equipment).

Hardly a freebie!
