Our Distict has run a pushmobile race for the past few years (at least).
They have been held in at a local high school track. A loud speaker system is
a must for the smooth flow of the event (20-30 carts). There are two
head-to-head competitions run during the event. The start lines are set up
about 30 ft apart at the center of one side of the track:

Each rank races against each other in races against the clock. Everyone
gets two races to compete in (two tries, best time counts). Each
push mobile team has a maximum of 8(eight) members, a minimum of 4(four)
and 6(six) is ok also. Races are run in 4(four) laps: driver/pusher to
turn-around, switch places, return to start, then next driver/pusher pair do
the same and so on. If there are less than 8 members on the team then one or
more driver/pusher pair(s) must race a second lap. This way everyone pushes
and rides.
Other Notes:
1) Plans to build pushmobiles are in either the Wolf or Bear books.
Safety check each cart for seat belt. The weight of the cart must
be supported by a fastened seat belt. Also, a bike helmet must
be worn by all riders.
2) Award ribbons/trophies to each rank placers, 1st 2nd and 3rd.
3) Racing outside ranks is not a good idea.
4) Have other things to do like frisbee, picnics etc. if you
have many races. Boredom will set in.
