Re: The New Guide to Military Installations (info)

This guide comes out November 1st of each year. It lists over 200 bases.
The cost for the guide is now $4.00 and you can order it by calling toll free
1-800-368-5718 and use a credit card. It gives a lot of good information
about each base.

My troop visited 8 bases this year on our high adventure trips. We often
receive free lodging, nominal meal costs, and free tours. It is not only a
cost saver but the boys really enjoy visiting the bases as a program element.

For us the $4.00 investment is a good deal.

A F R E E source for telephone and address information about military
bases is the...

National Directory of Addresses and Telephone Numbers

...which should be available through the reference area of your local
library. The ISSN number is 0740-7203 and it is published by Omnigraphics
Inc. (This book also has profiles of major cities which can also be
valuable in trip planning)

Look in the yellow page section under; air force bases, army bases, coast
guard installations, or naval installations.

You can also look under; museums, amusement parks, parks-national for some
valuable addresses and phoone number on those subjects. The book will
give you a mailing address and a main telephone number.

When I call a military base I usually have good luck asking for the
Public Affairs Office. They can usually help me or direct me.
