Newsletter help

BILL KINDER (kinder12@AZTEC.ASU.EDU)

I would like some help with newsletter production. I
attempt to publish a short newsletter for our Pack on a
monthly schedule. The goal of this effort is both to aid
communication with the parents and to announce upcoming
program features, acknowledge achievement of the boys and
other pack news. I also try to include a certain amount
of humorous "filler material" and at least one serious
article on scouting. My problem is coming up with fresh
and interesting serious articles. I was using some from
the Scouter's Journal but it appears that they are not
going to be a reliable source. My next best source is
this list, although it is a real chore to glean out a
good article from the volume of posts to this list.=20

Would it be possible to either begin another sub-list
just for newsletter materials or possibly begin a process
where current newsletter publishers post to Scouts-L
under a common subject like Newsletter Stuff. I would be
glad to begin the process (see post following). Any more
ideas?

A wish list of some current topics:=20
An short article for the local elementary school newsletter
addressing the advantages of the Scouting program and how to
handle the attraction of "organized" sports programs sponsored
by the Boys and Girls Clubs and YMCA. We have had quite a lot
of competition recently from these other youth activities, and
the school just bumped us from our pack meeting place in favor
of the basketball program. Parents need some help to address
this issue. =20
