The base you probably stayed at was Fort Indiantown Gap and it is still
there, although I don't know if it has been decommissioned or not.
Another place to stay, and one that my troop has used and is about half
an hour from Gettysburg is the Army War College at Carlisle Barracks in
Carlisle, PA. They put us up in the gym so you need to bring sleeping
pads, but they had meals available in their mess facility (which is
small), you could use the gym, and if you are there during swimming
season can use the pool at the Officers' Club for $1/person/day.
