Pack Problems - Update III

A.A.M. (lish@ACCESS.MOUNTAIN.NET)

Is it update III? I've lost count with all the email.

Our Committee Chairman called a special meeting for tonight to discuss
the problem with the boys. He just made it clear that something has to
be done. He had me explain what the principal of my sons school had
said. The CM and ACM agreed that the Pack will pay for the 4 horses that
were destroyed. The Wolf Leader and Myself said that our boys would be
writing apology letters to the school. I never heard either of the
Webelos Dens state that theres would do the same but I do _not_ feel that
she will receive any from them. The CM stated that she came down pretty
hard on her boys and one even came to her crying after the Den Meeting
last week and that she didn't think she wanted to humiliate them
anymore. I honestly don't think hers will be writing apology letters.
She did state that as of this Pack Meeting, she is stepping down as WebI
Den Leader. She admitted that she can not handle both and asked her son
which he'd prefer that she do. He is proud of her as CubMaster so that's
what she's staying with. She is *very* concerned that her boys will now
not have a Den Leader at all and that will be it for them. I do know she
has tried to recruit a new leader for the last year and a half and it
just hasn't worked. Maybe this is what it will take to wake them up. We
did tell her that we don't think she is doing the Pack or her Den justice
attempting to half do each. It is obvious she can NOT handle both.

As to the boys being present at the Den Leader Meetings, the Wolf Leaders
husband has agreed to come and take the boys to one room and have an
activity for them. My only concern is that we are talking boys from
Tiger age to Webs II. I'm not sure he can find an activity that can
include boys that far different in ages. *IF* this doesn't work we will
begin to have our meetings on another night. The consensus was to try
this first. Most of us, including myself, have quite a few community
activities we are involved in that make it hard to find a night we can
all meet when Thursdays we have ALL set aside for Scouts.

The Pack Meeting is on Thursday. I do feel my opening my big mouth is
stirring up something. There will be specific sections at this Pack
Meeting and we're determined to force some semblance of order.

I'll let everyone know how it goes Thursday night. Again, I want to
thank the many of you who I've received private email from. I wasn't
quite so afraid to go into that meeting tonight.
