Hello Scouters:
This past weekend, Troop 230, of Stevenson, Alabama, retired the scout
shirts of two scouts. They had their uniform shirts framed in a very
attractive frame with a plaque on each on. These two scouts are the ones who
went down with the flight that went down near Long Island, NY. Both of these
scouts were Life Scouts, needing only their Eagle Project to complete the
requirements for Eagle Scout. Their shirts have been hung in the town's
railroad depot for public display.
The leaders of this troop have contacted BSA National about awarding the
Eagle Scout to these two boys posthumously. So far, BSA has refused because
they had not completed the requirements. The leaders stated that they will
not give up.
