Let me guess which group you are in! The other group is saying "On one hand
we have people who are always trying to change things and on the other we
have a solid program which has served a lot of boys over a long period of
time."

If you remember that there are two sides to the issue and both are important,
I think the survey idea is workable. We did a similar one quite a few years
back and found that people really liked having some old and some new. One
of our committee people came up with the wedding thing of "something old,
something new, something borrowed, something blue." Well, the blue wasn't
hard as we had lots of cub scouts around. But, what we tried to do was
include something old, something new and something borrowed in every meeting.
The borrowed was often an idea that another pack had tried successfully.
The new was something that had not been done in our pack before (as long as
anyone could remember). What we really ended up with was two new things--
the new one and the borrowed one. In the end we met the needs of almost
everyone!
