Re: It's been 20 years!

Hay ! That may be disturbing to me. 2.5 years ago my son 'crossed over'
and wanted to go to summer camp. Since he has emotional problems I
decided to go with him. The week before camp, I was informed that I
should join as an Committee Member just to be covered for insurance
purposes. That sounded reasonable to me. They put me down as the
Advancement Chairman (fools). 9 months ago I changed to Committee
Chairman due to the old guys health. I took it but refused to give up
Advancement, the CC has power ! Then, due to a large influx of new
Scouts, I decided we needed an official ASM for new scouts, of course I
gave the job to myself. Now I fill the 2 best positions in Scouting,
Advancement and New Scout ASM. The rest of the leaders drink coffee and
work with the older scouts. Since this used to be a small troop, I guess
they just don't know what they are missing. Oh well, I'm not going to
tell them, I usually cant't tell them anything anyway, they have many
years :-> Now, after going through Scoutmaster Fundamentals two times,
Train the trainer, Univ. of scouting, I'm going to be a 'Council
Trainer', I don't even know the correct title yet. I'll be involved in
this spring SM Fundamentals, probably as the SM. I've done this in 2
years and 3 months. This is great fun and I really get a 'natural high'
by helping the new Scoutd develope 'character'. I don't know if I can
last 20 years, I'm 50 this year.
Well, enough of my ambiling on. Congratulations an I hope your Committee
finds a replacement just about the time you need it.
