Alicia and the Rowdy Pack

Alicia:
I don't believe in the adage "that boys will be boys" I think that you
are right to expect that they behave better. If they are rowdy at pack
meetings, then you might need to take a look at the program being
presented. They should be sitting down listening to the program.(Getting
involved appropriately) They should know that when the sign goes up, the
mouth goes closed. There should be an opening, program, closing.
(You probably know all this)It shouldn't be boring. From a kid's point of
view, the handing out of awards unless its theirs is boring. They like
being involved.
So what to do? Get your committee involved. Get your chartering
organization involved. A meeting with them and the leaders of your pack
may help establish the expectations for everyone.
We have kids at our meetings too, but they are expected to behave and
not be disruptive. Destruction of property is absolutely out of the
question. IMHO restitution should be made for equipment destroyed at the
school and the church(either from the pack or the church)
We had a similiar problem. Our chartering organization brought up the
fact that rooms were being messed up , doors left unlocked, and kids
playing on the playground. So our Cubmaster told the parents at a pack
meeting the rules (no going down the hallway, no playing on the
playground, clean up after yourselves or we lose the privilege of having
a meeting place) We stopped having problems. Maybe this will help you.
