Presidential Scouting

"5) King Karl Gustav of Sweden was a Boy Scout. He reportedly shows up =
at World Jamborees in Boy Scout uniform and visits his national contingen=
t and walks around the jamboree. One of my Scouts who attended the World =
Jamboree in Korea told me that the king camped overnight with the Swedish=
contingent. He also told me that a Swedish Scout leader told him that =
King Karl Gustav has been a registered Scouter for decades."

Indeed. We have had the pleasure of direct contact with His Majesty duri=
ng a state visit a few years ago. (Ottawa is the capital of Canada, and =
we get all kinds of company!) Our area was asked to host a camp for King=
Gustav, who wanted to be involved with a "real" Canadian Scout Troop dur=
ing his visit. I didn't attend the function myself, but he is definately=
a Scouter...and more than a ceremonial one.
