Cathy,
I spent many years in a career (the military) which required the
enforcement
of a certain code of ethics. When someone said to me, "If you were truly
my
friend, you'd accomodate me," my reply, of necessity, has most often
been,
"If you were truly my friend, you wouldn't ask me." This approach may
seem
to be somewhat "hard-nosed", but somewhere along the line a stand must
be taken, or the words honor, integrity and honesty lose their meaning.
A true friend will reevaluate his/her viewpoint and remain your friend.
This
has been so in my experience. They can't get to you if you don't let
them!
