I can't honestly say I totally agree with the concept that SM's and ASM's
should be omitted from Boards of Review. However, it would appear that my
unit has evolved in that direction but for different reasons. Most of our
ASM's are former troop members (not to mention Eagle Scouts) who have
chosen to continue their involvement past the age of 18. However, the
assembly of BOR's is left to the advancement committee of the Dads Club of
Troop 1 (We are a self-chartered troop), which consists almost exclusively
of parents of Scouts and ASM's (We try to keep the parents even if the boys
turn 18 <grin>). The BOR's are generally made up predominantly of parents
as well as a result.
