Why nor ask your PLC ????

It seems like a lot of questions come to this list that
could or maybe even SHOULD go FIRST and formost to your
unit PLC. The scouts run your unit, not the adults on
the committee etc.

I think we do not often give the PLC a chance to earn
their BARS so to speak.

In two of the most recent topics, I think the PLC should
and could be very appropriate.

1) In the case of the moldy tent, let the scout that
failed to dry the tent, PLEAD his case to his peers.
Let the PLC find out if the scout was aware of the
problems of stuffing a wet tent in a bag etc.

2) Let the PLC in the troop set the ACTIVE standards.
Then they have to live up to the standards set by themselves!
If a scout requests an exception because of sports etc,
let the PLC decide IF he has done his best to attend meeting
and activities etc., when not at his games or practice.

If the adults make too many of the decisions and rules, we
we soon find that we only have adults, and no scouts in our units!
NO FUN, no scouts!
