Hello all,
Dealing with your own son is always a problem. Either it becomes a
conflict of interest or to avoid that perception we hold them to a higher
standard. To avoid this in Troop 615 the rule that applies is that you
can deal with any boy other then your own. This means that the ASM's do
all of my son's Scoutmaster Conferences. If he requires disipline beyound
the capacity of the SPL then one of the ASM's deals with him. Likewise
the ASM's never deal with there own sons and parnets on outings and other
Troop activities are instructed that if they see something out of the
control of the SPL they may step in but not if it is there own son. At
Troop functions we are adult leaders and not individual parents. This
policy seems to work fairly well.
