A proposal: A Regular Scouts-L Etiquette Posting

Hello,

It is great news, IMHO, that our subscriber count is steadily on the
rise. However with the daily increase of subscribers, along with the
"Internet" article in Scouting, it is probably a "safe bet" that our
Welcome message and it's etiquette sections will be forgotten or not
completely remembered at an increasing rate with our increasing
subscriber base. In the digests from the last few days I have
encountered a number of non-"Welcome etiquette" mail message oops, and
I am *sure* that none of these were intentional.

I would like to make a proposal to the collective. I am willing to
create a simple "Scouts-L Etiquette" mail message that can be sent to
the Scouts-L listserver at a regular basis.

I would like the posting to be about 10 - 15 lines long. Each
entry would be a simple "one liner", representing a section from the
actual Scouts-L Welcome message. I can see at least two entries that
would be mandatory: How to unsubscribe and, How to re-fetch another
complete copy of the Welcome message. Other things like: line length,
that pesky "." problem, and perhaps the digest option could be
included. I feel that it is important to follow the KISS method here
and keep this posting to within a single screen.

I am willing to setup, on our Un*x system, a cron job that would
submit this Scouts-L Etiquette mail message to the listserver once a
week, ie Monday AM or Friday PM. It can mimic the FAQ model in Usenet
and be a simple reminder for *all* our subscribers. The Subject: line
would be consistant to allow on-line readers the ability to quickly
skip over it.

I have searched my archive's of the last few years and I didn't see
any discussion on the topic of a regular posting. Is there an interest ?
If there is how can we determine that the voting has reached a critical
mass, ie follow the Usenet convention of 100 yea/nay ?

PS: I receive my postings in Digest mode, so I will be following this
thread, but on a delayed basis. Any direct email, I will try to
respond to ASAP.
