Matthew,
While I can certainly understand your frustration with the boy who
neglected his duties, we must remember that people do make mistakes. A
scout is forgiving. As long as the tent is able to be cleaned up and
used, it should be (with this scouts help, so he can see the damage it
has caused). He is part of the troop, and therefore has probably also
contributed some work towards its purchase. Perhaps from this he will
learn how his actions have affected the others in the troop. We all must
be allowed to make a few mistakes in life, next time it may be you. Be
forgiving and move on. Scouts is a great learning experience, and we
don't always do everything right the first time.
