Improvising stretchers while backpacking

After some delay, I have added a page to the Gaelic Wof Scouting Pages
that discussed a technique for building an improvised stretcher using
backpack frames.
If someone in your Scout Group (yourself included) were to be taken
suddenly seriously ill or became seriously injured while backpacking a
long way from the nearest trailhead, you would be able to save many
hours (even days in some cases) between the time the problem began and
the time the victim was in capable medical care if you could perform an
efeective group self-rescue.
If you have ever been a practice "victim" carried in a stretcher ade of
poles and blankets, or have ahd to carry one more than a few metres, you
will understand the promise of an improvised stretcher that will not
only immobilise fractures and dislocations, but will retain its shape
and stability over the long haul.
You can get to this page by going to the home page listed below. There
is a link to the page near the top of the home page, as well as a link
from the Serious Side of Scouting page.
Have a look, learn the "how to" and teach it to your Scouts. Practice
the technique regularly. After all, you may be the one who neds rescuing
some day!
