Re: Female Cub Leaders Wearing Khaki

Rumor? Rumor you say? No rumors in BSA! HAH! ;-)

Don't know that I can point to anything that says "Female Boy Scout leaders
wear khaki and
Female Cub Scout leaders wear blue/yellow ONLY"!

BUT....the BSA catalog for 1996 states on page LE2 "All uniform pieces are
available in both
olive/khaki for Boy Scouting and blue/yellow for Cub Scouting".

Which would seem to mean female Cub leaders wear only blue/yellow. BUT
THEN on the
SAME page it shows the khaki female shirt displayed with red AND BLUE
shoulder tabs!!

Which would appear to contradict the words....(look at last line of my sig
block..we continue)..

The Insignia Control Guide (#33064) in a couple of places makes statements
such as:

On page 5, in the temporary insignia section ... "Female leaders wearing
the yellow Cub Scout
leader blouse or the tan Webelos den leader blouse may wear..."

which could lead one to believe that the ONLY time a female leader in Cubs
wears tan is if she is
a Webelos leader.

But, we go on....

On page 7, in the belts section it states "Female adult Cub Scout leaders
wearing the blue and
gold uniform..." and "Adult leaders wearing the tan uniform..."

Eh? One could interpret this to mean female Cubbers could wear the tan
uniform, since they
are in fact adult leaders....notice it isn't a blue and yellow uniform
here, but rather GOLD?!?

SOOOOO....a female working in both a Pack and a Troop may, or may not, have
to have both uniforms????

(Uh, look at the last line of that sig block again!!)

Tell you what ... you come to my Pack, show up in either uniform (unless
you're male, in which case I
would expect you to be in the tan one) and I PROMISE you will not be shot
if you are wearing a tan shirt
and want to be a Wolf or Bear leader or on the Committee. I PROMISE!!

All I ask is that you wear it complete with patches properly (NOT
PERFECTLY!) displayed!

(If not complete, as a member of the BSAUP I will be forced to knock a knot
on your head as big as a
rooster egg!) BTW - BSAUP = BSA Uniform Police ;-)

Hi Y'all, (going to Kansas City next week so just practicing, okay
Darlins),

I just heard a rumor from our council and I was wondering if anyone else
heard it.

It came from one of the DE's in my council, she got it from the scout
executive.

Remember I don't want to start a rumor but I was told that women cub
leaders will be able to wear Khaki uniforms regardless of their rank as
leader.

I am not sure if they are doing away with the yellow, I just heard khaki
will be okay to wear.

Any body else hear this? Until I see it written I am not sure I can
believe it.

Eaglely yours,
