Hank..Our large troop..(87 boys and 44 adults registered) in the past
has conducted SMF at summer camp when we have been out of
council and had a large number of new dads captive for the week.

We DID however, get advance permission from the training committiee
and district so that the training would be accepted as official. Most of
us
old timers in the troop are currently or have been on the training staff,
so we were able to assure CORRECT training.

Since part of your problem is with the training staff..they might no t
want
to officially recognize a SMF course done by your troop...get the OK
first.

Doing SMF at summer camp is a great idea some of y'all might try..
we have done it twice and has been warmly received by the participants
who have a whole week in which to complete the course. We do two short
sessions a day while the boys are in classes or at activities, and most
adults
just waste the mid morning and afternoon anyway, so it helps to have an
activity for them too.
