We have been fairly successful lately, by asking a parent to take on one
short-term project, or to assist with a project, such as popcorn, or being
Pack historian. In our den, parents have always been welcome to stay during
the meetings, and in fact were often asked to do so and help out with such
things as flag folding practice, assisting with craft/woodworking projects,
collecting dues and keeping attendance records, etc. We currently have 4
committee members who were recruited from our den, and a new Webelos den
leader and 3 assistants! Den is really too large, but noone willing to take
on new den at the moment - but we're working on them!
It helps to ask specific people, as you get to know them - the general call
for volunteers has never worked for our pack, but inviting a few people to
come to a committee meeting, just to see how it works has!
Anyway, these are methods which have worked for us!
