Tom & Debbie,

>Our Pack has grown from about 60 boys last year to over 100 this year.

Our Pack has approx. 130 boys, so we can relate!

>1.) At what point should the boys begin working on the Bear or Webelos
>stuff once the school year is over? Should they continue working on
>Arrowpoints for their rank or begin the next one? Should they do both
>at once?

We don't start working on the next badge, Bear or WEBELOS, because we
wouldn't want any of the new boys we might sign on at the next school
year to get too far behind. During the summer we work on extra arrows
and belt loops.

>2.) Is it too restrictive to ask the Dens/Patrols to earn advancement
>as a group? I, as Cubmaster don't want to do 6 Bobcat ceremonies each
>year. My vote is for 2, 1 in October and 1 in November. Of course, if
>a boy joins later we would do one for him.

We do ceremonies as needed, we don't restrict the boys to earning
requirements as groups. I personally have worked with my den/patrol
as a group and most of the boys earn their patches/pins as a group,
but it is not requested to do so as a pack, just highly suggested for
simplicity sake.

>3.) As Cubmaster and Advancement Committee Member, should we require
>anything other than Leader signoff for awards? ie, BB-Gun Beltloops.
>Should we ask if the boy went to "Official" Cub Camp if we don't know
>for sure? Our Leaders (23 registered) have all been through Basic Cub
>Leader and/or Webelos training and many attend Roundtable, but we don't
>learn everything there is to know.

We only require leaders signoff and Camp isn't a problem because usually
at least two or more of our leaders attend each year, so we know what boys
attended camp and what they earned.

Hope this is the kind of feedback you were looking for.
