To all:
I would not recommend the use of FUBAR or SNAFU or any other acronyms
popularized and made common in military use unless you are sure their
origins and or meanings are harmless.
The original meanings of these tended to be much stronger in nature and
generally intended for use in a adults only atmosphere.
It would be a bit embarrassing to make use of these terms with scouts or
others around who are not aware there is a "nice" version of each.
Better to turn a failure into an example by saying something like "I guess
we could have done this a bit better" or "we might want to do this
differently next time."
We must never forget that some of the most important things we will ever
teach the boys will be taught by our own example and behavior.
Yours in Scouting, Jess
