Doesn't this require a lot of interpretation, Mike? If a candidate
demonstrated very little leadership but that was the best he could do, would
you pass him? If he was leader enough to get dad or his rich uncle to buy
his project, would that be leadership enough? It seems to me that
demonstration of real leadership ability is at least as important as the
academic and physical skills.

I am wrestling with a project for my 14 year old grandson now. He was hurt
in an accident and I think a good project would be to produce a video tape
on safety for distribution to schools - he would do the directing using
Scouts and friends for illustrating the dos and don'ts. We can work together
so HE can do the project and I could hire tape splicers and buy tape copies
for all the schools and libraries in the county. Is that enough? I don't
think so! OTOH the value of such a project at least equals, IMO, getting a
group to paint the interior walls of a church - not knocking the latter.
