Re: An introduction and a request

And *finally Steve and Sally comes to take a seat around the front end of
the "great Roundtable campfire"! WELCOME!:

>For those of us who are new to many parts of Scouting, all these acronyms
just don't >mean anything. I find myself trying to figure out what a string
of initials must mean >so that the rest of the message will make some sense.
I certainly realize that many of >them are well known and that I SHOULD know
what they mean. It would be really >helpful for us greenhorns if everyone
would be careful about those acronyms until >they have been defined once in
each e-mail.

There's a list of Scouting acronyms on our server. It's up to day as of
early this
spring, and it was compiled by a Scouter as part of completing his Wood Badge
"ticket". I don't know the name off the top of my head, but I do know how
you can
get a listing of ALL of the files in our archives:

Send a unsigned posting to LISTSERV@TCUBVM.IS.TCU.EDU, with the subject
"INDEX" and in the body the following one line

INDEX SCOUTS-L

You'll get a confirmation message from the automated listserver software,
followed by
a current index to all of the files, graphics, information and other things
archived over
the years on our listserver. It goes back to I believe 1993, and Jon Eidson
has the
other files available if you want to go back further than that and are
willing to wait a few days to get them from him (the listmanagement is
secondary to his University and
community obligations, as they should be).

And...Steve and Sally, there's NOTHING WRONG with just ASKING. Remember,
for each person out there asking a question, there's at least five others
sitting there
looking at the posting saying "Yeah, that....I wanna know too!" So ASK AWAY
if there's something you don't understand or just are curious about!

>There, now that I have disclosed my level of ignorance, I will go back to
being a >silent bystander!

Don't you dare...now that we know that you're here.....stick around, get
"fired up"
about doing a GREAT JOB back in Colorado! *broad smile*
