So each of your Districts (except the one that didn't participate in the
Councilwide
monthly Cub Roundtables) are now having Roundtable monthly now, right??
What prompted your Council to hold Council-wide Roundtables each quarter
instead of monthly?? Your Council isn't the only one that has such a scheldue,
and it's usually because the Council has been consolidated or merged and it
gives everyone a year or two to "feel out" the potential Roundtable and
Council-level
staffing needs before reorganizing them on a District or Division level.
In another Council's case, the Council Scout Executive felt that District
Roundtables
were becoming ineffective and not attended in several Districts, so it was a
central-basing process which saved several local meeting places (and therefore
providing everyone with "one monthly event" at the Council office. Not a
great idea,
since the idea of the Roundtable is to foster interaction and exchange with
other unit leaders on a District or local basis, and not to "confront the
professional staff with
problems dealing with the Council's operation" (but isn't that what we do at the
District level a lot of times?? *grining*
