I often use film canisters to store foreign coins, while traveling and
at home. So when I cross the border, I just empty my wallet into one
canister, and take the next set of coins for the next country.
(The only coin so far that didn't fit is the UK 50 p. )
Other uses: store paperclips, nails etc
