Fellow scouters,
I am the Scoutmaster of Troop 317 of Davie, Fla. I would like some help
from the list regarding who exactly is allowed to sign off for requirement
accomplishment for Tenderfoot thru First Class. Besides the obvious SM, ASM
and Advancment CM sometimes a problem arises in our troop when someone goes
outside the troop to accomplish a requirement. For instance, a boy went to
the local public pool to get his swimming requirement done and the local
lifeguard (not a scouter) wrote on a paper that he had done the requirement.
Many times someone scribbles their initials in the BS Handbook that the
requirement has been done and then at the SM Conference it is hard to figure
out who or when the requirement has been accomplished. It could be the boys
parents for all I know. Is any committee member allowed to sign off for
requirements within the troop? Or is it up to the individual troop to decide.
How do you do this in your troop? Thanx in advance.
YIS,
Marc Grey
