50 milers

Jack Cudney (jecudney@HENGE.COM)
Fri, 19 Jul 1996 23:08:28 -0600

I just want to brag a bit here. I hope you will indulge me. My son is in the
process of completeing his second 50 Miler this summer. In fact his second
of the month. He did his first by water. 66 miles and 28 portages in 5 days
at BWCA. His second, by land) thanks to the Scout Spirit of Hawk Mtn
Council, PA, Thanks Steve Henning), 75 miles at Philmont. this makes three
in two years. He did 65 miles at Philmont last year. I must admit how proud
I am of this scout, my son. Now I just have to fugure out a way to tell him
that his labrador, Molly, was hit and killed by a car this past wednesday. I
hope it doesn't take the shine off his accomplishments. He certainly is
getting the most out of the outdoors os scouting.

This is a young man whom though bright, does not do well in school. He does
live for his time outside.

OLD AGE AND TREACHERY WILL OVERCOME YOUTH AND SKILL
