In the UK there was a series of TV programmes on a Sunday evening hosted by
a wonderful man - David Kossoff. Sadly he died some years ago. However he
had lost his only son to Drug abuse but was still a deeply religious man
(Jewish).
He used to tell some wonderful stories from the Old Testament in a very down
to earth and understanding way.
But to the point he was firmly of the view that you spoke to God as if
having a conversation - not stuffy or high churchish. I have used his style
to compose prayers for young people and leaders at various functions - not
nearly as good as Kossoff. The young appreciate it. Funny graces is not
something that was practised in my old group. But the important thing is -
if it works use it. I am sure some people did not like rock worship or
gospel singing but so what. Each to his own.
