Re: advancement chair.. a question

Stan,

Board of Reviews need to be conducted at least once a month, otherwise y
ou'll hold
up the scout's advancement. First few ranks can be earned in about a months tim
e. That
is, it take's about one month to complete each of the ranks. Of course you'd ha
ve to do
a lot of camping in that time. In my troop there are a couple of boys that have
been with
the troop for a year and have not advanced in rank much. (motivation problem) W
e have
worked with them and now they are staring to advance. Basically, with the night
s of
camping they have done so far, they can be First clas in 3 months with a monthly
BoR. You don't need a CoH for an advancement. I got many of my badges at a reg
ular
meeting and was recognized for it at the CoH. That way I could keep on earning.
Also my
troop will take a tally to see how many people need a BoR. If five or more need
it, then
the advancement chairman will hold a special one. Hope this helps.
