A General Reminder

Just a general reminder here to all of you about one of the list guidelines
that Jon has in the welcome file. Please, please, keep the line length to
72 characters or less.
The reason for this is that lines longer than that get wrapped, with
unpredictable results. One of these involves placeing a "." at the
beginning of a blank line. The result of this is that about 25% of the
list subscribers miss a good portion of your wisdom. If they are fortunate
enough to know of someone who gets the list intact, _and_ knows what to do
to correct the copy, they might be lucky enough to get the rest of the
digest. Otherwise, the're up the creek.
Some systems see the "." at the beginning of a blank line as a command to
stop recieving the file, or that the transmission has ended. It is quite
frustrating to get to the end of a post, before the end arrives. ;)
One other item on that: These subscribers _cannot_ recover the full post
from the logs, as those transmissions will do _exactly_ the same thing
as they contain the _same_ error. Forever.
Please be considerate of your fellow subscribers.
