Re: Adirondack Hikes

Rick,
Mount Marcy is the highest peak in NY, but is still only a day hike.
You also have to register before you go up, and check in when
you get back. Other than Marcy there are some good areas to
see arround lake Placid, Whiteface Mountain, site of olympics,
the ski jump hill, with an elevator to the top (great view), plus
Mt van Hovenberg, where they run bob sleds, including DRY land
taining bobs, that SOME TIMES take passengers in the middle seats.!

For the meager price of a CSP and OA flap from your council,
I could stop over to Eastern Mountain sports and get you the
the Adirondack trail guide! I would also suggest a vist to the
Adirondack museum, if you can get to Blue Mountain lake.

Adirondacks are a large area, and limited road access, so it
can take a few hours to get from 1 place to another.
Let me know if you want the map/trail guide, and I'lll try to
get it in the mail today. ALSO Otetiana council in Rochester NY,
run a beautiful camp (near Cranberry lake I think) called Massawepi.
