Jan,
Kudos to your Pack for having a vigorous and active summertime program.
The right balance is what works for your Scouts and their families.
There is no magic formula for how much is too much. In fact most Packs
struggle to have any summertime program. As a result BSA came up with
the National Summertime Pack and Den Awards to encourage Packs to have
summer activities. To qualify a Pack has to plan and conduct three Pack
activities - one each in June, July and August. Dens averaging at least
half their members at the the three summer Pack events get a Den ribbon.
The boys get a small pin to wear on their uniform.
