Re: 1st Class Cooking Requirement

After reading some of the recent postings on this subject, I would like to
submit the following for a breakfast meal.

1. Pop-tart type pastry
2. Heat until warm
3. Serve with boxed juice drink

Ridiculous. Yes, but probably not to many of you. Let us remember the intent
of the requirement. IMHO, I believe that most boys would prefer to correctly
complete a requirement and would have a better feeling of accomplishment
after honest work. Even though the requirement may have been signed off, the
Scout knows if it was really completed.

Sure the eggs may be a little runny, the carrots a little crisp, or the
oatmeal rather lumpy, but this is also part of the learning process. When
we start cutting corners, where do we stop?
