Sure! When the Cardinal Council (finally!) finds a Web home,
you will find an ENTIRE COUNCIL FULL of "made up people", used
only as illustration for various parts of the BSA's program.
(short note: the Cardinal Council, in its entirity, DOES NOT
OR EVER EXISTED)
For instance, you will see that Janice is also the Exploring
Training Chair for the Exploring East Division of that Council;
that Vince is also a member of the Council's Executive Board;
and that *your help* will be asked to help develop the "Council's
Program" for the 1997 program year, to "decide on the recipients
of the Silver Beaver" and other Council awards for 1996, and even
to ask the "Council" about upcoming activities.
Also, be looking for the "reality" parts of this Council to
appear...REAL Council strips, REAL "OA Lodge flaps", and REAL
"Cardinal Council" items. It's a way that we can point to the
GOOD and BAD within a Council's program, talk about them, and
not have to worry as we do in real life about feelings and
the possibility of "things getting back to them".
The reason why I created all of this malarky is because when
Web sites first came out, I started receiving letters and emails
from Scouters that wanted to develop a site for their Council.
At that time, there wasn't a lot of Web sites, so I wrote a couple
of pages with the help of some other Scouters, and instead of
using the BSA's "generic Council name", the Takeany Council (those
professionals here that have went to NEI ARE VERY FAMILIAR with
that Council! *eheheheee*) and instead used a name that SOUNDS
like a Council.
I've used several "examples" when we did the Cornerstone training
course (back in the seventies and early eighties, was replaced
by Scoutmaster Fundamentals) and Commissioner basic courses.
Some of them, for example, the Council Scout Executive,

You can't buy people any more, Lisa! *ehehehehee*
Some do come with advanced training, like Janice (oh yeah...you'll see a
picture of her too!) and the District Executive of the South District
(Jessica says that she's too beautiful to be a District Executive!). Some,
like the District Executive of the North District, is a REAL WIENER and
you'll read the differences. Some also have some problems with their
Troop's operation, as in "Diary of a Troubled Troop" which will appear each
week on the site.
As you can see, Lisa, the whole Leaders' Online area is really
going to take off (again; it was up briefly as long as CLR
Technologies paid my salary)....so, I'm still waiting and shopping
for the cheapest site possible.
Use some imagination and create characters based on the best and
the worst examples of your training course. For me, Lisa, it
wasn't hard because I've run across some of the finest Scouters
there are; and some of the most ruthless, uncaring and unforgettable
Scouters in my life as well. Then, put them to work
to illustrate the best and worst of elements of your program.
That's what I did.
