I agree with Mike.
Its a lot easier to open the Fieldbook to refresh your memory on a
forgotten skill than it is to open up, an learn from, such a book on basic
leadership or ethics. If these aren't learned as a youth, no amount of remedia
l adult
training suffices, IMO. Knot tying and outings just keep the scouts'
attention, while we teach them ethics. Would they show up for 90 minutes
of ethical training each week, if we just labeled it ethical training?
I'd say probably not.
