Administrative: Holidays and Reminders

Jon Eidson (eidson@UNIX4.IS.TCU.EDU)

Hi all ...

With Thanksgiving this week (and my troop's annual campout to
Wichita Mountains in OK) and I'll be in San Francisco (+northern
CA) from 11/30-12/8 (vacation/DECUS) ... I thought reminders need
to be given out to help the list run smoother. One of the problems
with the 50 msg/day limit is I need to be around to turn the list
back on once this happens. When I'm out-of-touch, this becomes
more difficult -- especially when camping :)

Here goes ...

- Use private email whenever possible: welcomes, hellos,
congratulations, I agrees, etc.

- Dont quote ... unless you are willing to do heavy editing and ONLY
include the 1 or 2 lines needed for clearification.

- Try not to repeat what others have said. I know this is difficult
given the email format of the listserv, but I find that 98% of the
time, someone else has already expressed my view/thoughts.

- Use your scouts oath/promise as guidelines when posting.

- Read the SCOUTS-L WELCOME files. Much is described there including
guidelines, getting files, and even how to unsubscribe.

Anyway, thats all for now. I want to wish everyone a safe and wonderfull
holiday. We all have so much to give thanks for. Its a time to dwell
on the positive things we all have. As the saying goes ... "do an act
of random kindness..." its amazing the "return on investment".

Yours in Scoutsing, Jon Eidson, Listowner Scouts-L
