We close our RTs with a SM munute; here's one I built and presented Thursday
night. Feel free to use as is, change, or do whatever: - Mike
"This summer I taught the new guys toten chip.
As I drove back from camp, wishing I had brought blank certificates along
so I could have awarded them at camp, I visualized the toten chip
certificate that I had earned as a Scout. I even remember who signed it,
and I think I can remember what he looked like.
It struck me that for the new guys, this might be something that in 30
years THEY will re-discover in an old box marked 'BSA', which will contain
long forgotten advancement cards, service stars, old ranks, and a toten
chip card.
What kind of memories will that card bring back? Will they have warm
feelings about Scouting? Will I have added to their positive memories?
Only rarely will we get feedback on our actions, but all our actions have anact.
We're in the memory business; please be careful.
Good night Scouters."
