NEW SUBSCRIBER INTRO.

Larry R. Higgs (LHScouter@AOL.COM)

Hello, I'm a new subscriber to Scouts-l. I have been involved in Boy
Scouting continuously for over 40 years. I started as a Cub, Scout, ASM,
Professional (for 5 years), District member and have been a SM for the past 6
years. I had (last year) the largest scout troop in the city of Reading
proper. I was told by many old timers that Scouting Troops are always small
in the city and no one gets involved anymore. I have over 11 ASM all active
and each with a special assignment so that no quilt is felt if they don't
show up at meetings for a time. I have received no special awards except for
the thanks of my scouts - that's enough. I'm woodbadge trainned (Eagle
Patrol) back in 1975. I enjoy Scouting because I see the value in developing
the character, citizenship and the fittness in the program. I'm also very
much into learning and teaching Leadership to the Scouts and the Adults plus
learning myself.
I own my own small Heating & A/C company which gives me some flexible time
for scouting events. This summer I took 5 of my scouts and two other leaders
to N.H. on the appalachian trail for a week. A great place and time.

Thank you.
