I assume that you are in the 18-21 age bracket that would place you as an
adult for Boy Scouting and youth for OA. If my assumption is incorrect, then I
would hope that you plan to provide support for the boys who will be doing the
work.

I'm responding to the list because I have an idea that I would like to seed.
Were I tasked to do a Where To Go Camping book, here is what I would do.

1. Develop a database schema and data dictionary to cover the data required
for the book and other products (later).

2. Task each chapter to provide data for the camping areas and establishments
that fall within their chapter boundaries. Of course data for favorite
camps outside the lodge area would also be accepted.

3. Compile the submitted data.

4. Create a report format to produce the actual book(let) pages and
cross-references needed to produce the book(let).

Additional products would include a soft copy delivered electronically (it
would be a great CGI application for a set of web pages) or on disk either
in text form, common word processor form, actual database format, or comma
delimited for importing to other databases.

Now, if we think a little bit bigger, it would be really great for an entire
section to use the same technique to generate a mega-WTGC book. If the lodges
in the section (or even at a national level) could come together on this, the
result would be tremendous. And maintenance would still be done by each chapter
maintaining the data on the sites within their chapter bounds.

Could you imagine a phonebook sized national Where To Go Camping book?
