I also recently accompanied a crew to Philmont (exp# 709A). Many
times I had to remind those who would run off and leave the slower,
that in our safety training with the ranger it was recommended that
4 people go for help. How cna this happen when the group splits
into smaller "splinter" groups? Four people might seem like a large
number to send, but having seen Philmont, I understand. Besides,
it's a good guideline to use in any hiking situation.
